Dark day for Davido, Chioma as son drowns in swimming pool

  Nigerian music star, Davido and his partner, Chioma have lost their three-year-old son, Ifeanyi. According to reports widely published in major news outlets, Ifeanyi drowned in a swimming pool at his residence in the Banana Island area of Lagos State. Ifeanyi who was born in 2019 was said to have been underwater for a very long time before being spotted and rushed to a hospital in the Lekki area of the state, he was, however, confirmed dead on arrival. The horrific incident happened on Monday night, a few days after his third birthday (October 20). Though the Adeleke’s are yet to make any official statement, several celebrities posted cryptic messages on their social media page, which many saw as a confirmation of the news. Hours after the news broke, Iyabo Ojo, Ay Comedian, William Uchemba, Paul Okoye and several other celebrities all shared condolences.

LASG ADDRESSING DEMANDS OF JOINT DRIVERS WELFARE ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (JDWAN)

The Lagos State Government is looking into the demands of the Joint Drivers Welfare Association of Nigeria (JDWAN), with a view to finding permanent solutions to the issues raised by the Association.  The move becomes necessary following the planned seven-day job boycott by the drivers over alleged “harassment and extortion by motor parks and garages management”.  Sequel  to the announcement by JDWAN to embark on a seven-day strike starting from 31st October, 2022, the Ministry of Transportation invited its leadership to a meeting on Friday 28th October, 2022, despite its non-affiliation to any of the transport unions known by the State Government, i.e NURTW and RTEAN.  Most of the union members at the meeting were from the Badagry axis and it was resolved that the meeting be adjourned till Wednesday, 2nd November, 2022 to have a larger house (the Unions inclusive) and resolve the matter amicably.  The outcome of the 2nd November, 2022 Meeting will be made known to the public.  The Sta

Speaking at the completion ceremony at Lekki port, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu promised to expand the roads leading to the port to a six lane roads with a view to ensuring a seamless evacuation of cargo from the port. Sanwo-Olu also said that with a projected 1.2million Twenty Equipment Unit, TEUs, the port will make Nigeria a hub in the entire sub-region. He also called on community stakeholders within port axis to give all the necessary support as the port promises to generate over 200,000 jobs within communities around the port area. NDLEA arrests 48 suspects over alleged drug trafficking in Edo

  The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Edo, says it has arrested no fewer than 48 suspects over alleged illicit drug trafficking in October. This is contained in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Abuja by Mr Buba Wakawa, the NDLEA Commander in the state. The commander also said that 10 suspected cannabis farms measuring 8.23 hectares were destroyed, and three vehicles and one motor bike intercepted. Wakawa however said that the command secured six convictions within the month. He said that those arrested included 39 males and nine females, while about 7,379.59 kilogrammes of drugs were seized from them. He listed the items as cannabis sativa, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine and codeine-based syrup, among others. This is to find lasting solutions to their demands. Recall that JDWAN and other transport unions which include: Ibile Drivers Stakeholders Association of Nigeria, DSWAN, Mega City Drivers Welfare Association of Nigeria, MCDWA, Federal Assisted Mass Transit Incorporation, FAMTI, Owners, Drivers and Conductors Association, ODCA, Commercial Bus Drivers and Owners Operators of Lagos, CBDOP, Mini Bus Drivers Welfare Association, MNDWA, had on Monday, embarked on a seven day warning strike action to press home their demands. 100 killed, 300 injured as two car bombs explode in Somalia’s market

Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud told reporters on Sunday adding that the attack was the deadliest since a truck bomb exploded at the same place killing 500 people in 2017. Reuters reports that the al Qaeda-linked Islamist group al Shabaab has claimed responsibility, saying the ministry was at the centre of a “war on minds” that teaches Somali children using a Christian-based syllabus. Mohamud also said in a statement emailed to the press that the members of the security agents were among the dead and injured. Al Shabaab, which is seeking to overthrow the government and reinstate its own reign based on an extreme interpretation of Islamic law, frequently stages attacks in Mogadishu and other places. I hate marriage, says woman who killed 2nd husband with poison in Borno

  Fatima Abubakar, 25, has said she hated marriages and disliked men coming near her, which was why she killed her husband by putting poison in his food. It was her second marriage. The Borno State Commissioner of Police, Mr Abdu Umar, who disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Maiduguri, said that the suspect was arrested on October 19 by men of the Command at Anguwan Doki. Umar said that the victim, who was the Chief Imam of the area, returned from the mosque when the  suspect, who was the  second wife, allegedly mixed poison in his food. He explained that as soon as Goni started eating, his condition deteriorated. According to him, the victim was immediately rushed to the State Specialist Hospital where he was given emergency medical attention,  but unfortunately he later died when they returned home.
