BAMIGBOYE EMPOWERS OVER 200 YOUTHS WITH VARIOUS SKILLS

Over 200 youth have been successfully equipped with trainings in various skills of endeavours under the Youth Empowerment scheme of the Executive Chairman of Mushin Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Bamigboye.


The skills which included Catering, Cosmetology, Make - Over and Soap - Making, were acquired in a three - weeks training exercise organised by the department of Youth, Sports and Agriculture, of Mushin Local Government, in partnership with Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development. 


In his welcome address, Hon. Bamigboye, reinstated that his administration will not relent in its efforts to accord priority to youth empowerment and wealth creation. He stated that the skills acquired by the youth will enable them to be self reliant and useful for themselves and the society.


The council boss, is optimistic that when youths are empowered, they will become active contributors and collaborators towards exploring their impacts on the world around them.


He however implored all the graduands, to show appreciation by exhibiting high sense of responsibility, competitive skills and portray themselves as good ambassadors of Mushin Local Government. 


Bamigboye finally presented certificates to all the graduands of the training programme and appealed to them to support continuity in governance in Lagos State, by voting all the candidates of APC in the 2023 general elections. He assured them of more empowerment programmes at the grassroots, as youth empowerment is part of the programmes of the APC at all levels of government.


Representative of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Mr. Lukmon Ahmed, commended the Executive Chairman for the laudable programme. 


Mrs. Taiwo Olaniyan of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, explained that the graduands can access loans to establish their business as there are various categories of loans, ranging from 250,000 to 5,000,000 for Small and Medium Scale Enterprises. In his votes of thanks, the Vice Chairman - Hon. Tunbosun Aruwe, advised the youth to embrace and take advantage of the opportunity provided through the programme and make good use of it to better their lives as white collar job is not for everybody.


One of the beneficiaries of the programme, Ojuolape Ariori, who spoke on behalf of her colleagues, expressed appreciation to the chairman for the opportunity given to them to venture into various lines of business through the skills acquisition programme. She also prayed for the success of the chairman and his team in their administration.


The event was attended by many dignitaries who included, leader of the legislative chamber - Hon. Olamide Williams, Councillors, Supervisors, Heads of various departments at the council, Area Officers, Community leaders, party leaders and youth leaders.
