SOMOLU LG CHAIRMAN 'DULLAR' RECEIVES LG HEALTH AUTHORITY
……pledges more funding of Primary Healthcare Centres_
As part of his efforts in fulfilling his campaign promises, especially in the area of delivery accessible and affordable healthcare for the people of his area, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu met the Somolu Local Government Heath Authority Team in his office earlier this week.
According to the Supervisor for Health in Somolu Local Government, Hon. Ladi Omifare, the Council Chairman is bent on making the six Primary Healthcare Centres in Somolu to be more efficient with modern day equipment which will be accessible for 24hours services.
Introducing members of the team, Dr. Bidemi Agboola, the Medical Officer of Health, said the team is being setup in accordance to the Lagos State Health Sector Reform Law of 2006 which also recommend that Primary Healthcare Centres should be handed over to the health stakeholders of political ward hosting the PHC.
Dr. Suleimon Yekini Oludegun (Chairman), Alhaja Mustapha Afusat (Private Health Provider), Alhaja Olanrewaju Basirat (Representative of Traditional Birth Attendants), Mr. Dapo Oduguwa (Community Rep 1), Mrs. Olayinka Oladipupo (Community Rep 2) and Dr. Bidemi Agboola (MOH) are the members of the Somolu Local Government Health Authority who will be monitoring and coordinating the activities of the Primary Healthcare Centres in Somolu.
Dr. Agboola noted that the Ward Health Authority will also be incharge of the various PHC in their areas too and they will be reporting the Somolu Local Government Health Authority for issues beyond their capacity.
While thanking the Dr. Suleimon Yekini Oludegun led team, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu assured them of his administrative and political supports as more human, material and financial resources will be channeled to the Primary Healthcare Centres in Somolu, including the newly commissioned Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu Primary Healthcare Centre, Akoka PHC, Bajulaiye PHC, Ohekenu PHC, Akinwunmi Ambode PHC and Wright Memorial PHC.
The Council's helmsman added that more diagnostic and imaging equipments will be accessible in the healthcare centres to enable residents of Somolu have more accessible, affordable and efficient Primary Healthcare, especially now that the General Hospital serving Somolu is not functioning at full capacity.
However, Hon. Salawu assured the residents of Somolu that Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and the First Lady, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu are not relenting in their interest and efforts in ensuring the construction of the New General Hospital starts soon before the end of 2022.
