U-17WWC: Nigeria defeat USA on penalties, qualify for semi-final


 The Flamingoes have defeated the United States of America to book a spot in the semi-final of the ongoing FIFA U-17 Women World Cup.

The Nigerian ladies eliminated the American girls 5-4 on penalties to make it to the semis for the first time.

The game entered into penalties after a 1-1 draw in regular time.

Edafe Omamuso, who scored the winning penalty for Nigeria, opened the scoring from the penalty spot before the Americans pulled a goal back before half time.

The second half saw a tight contest between both sides as they strived to get a lead but to no avail.

The match then went into penalty which Nigeria won 5-4.

Operatives of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC), Epe Command, have arrested a suspected kidnapper who had been disguising as a mentally ill person to evade detection. The suspect, identified as Mr. Godwin, a native of Ughelli Local Government Area in Delta State, had been under close surveillance for over a month following intelligence reports and concerns raised by residents. Community members reported that Mr. Godwin often made suspicious late-night phone calls and changed clothes discreetly each morning. He frequently took shelter in an abandoned security building along Lagos Road, near the T-junction. On May 5, during a routine patrol, officers were informed by residents that the suspect was temporarily absent from the area. Acting swiftly, the patrol team searched the structure and discovered 27 registered SIM cards concealed within a section of a block wall.
