When systems are properly structured, progress becomes inevitable - a reality we are witnessing in the advancement of tertiary education in Lagos State.

I attended the official handover of the Jimoh Kareem-Laka Orelope Innovation Hub (AWORI HOUSE) at Lagos State University (LASU) to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Nigeria by Her Excellency, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, the Senior Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The new hub, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and designed to foster innovation through an optimal learning environment, exemplifies our commitment to advancing education and academic excellence in Lagos State. This facility reflects the progress we are making, driven by strong public-private partnerships that promote academic excellence and sustainable development.

In my address, I highlighted LASU’s remarkable achievement in the GreenMetric World Rankings 2024, where it presently ranks as the best university in Sub-Saharan Africa. This accomplishment speaks volumes about this administration's relentless pursuit of academic excellence, positioning LASU - our flagship institution - as a leading university in the region.

I expressed confidence in UNDP Nigeria, particularly in their Resident Representative, Ms. Elsie Attafuah, trusting in their capacity to maintain and grow this vital hub while partnering with us to bring more advancements to Lagos State in the years to come. The event was further enriched by the presence of revered Obas, the university's management team led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, and other key stakeholders.
