Three Students, One Adult Arrested in Epe for Theft, Aiding and Abetting at Technical College.

Epe, Lagos – May 2025 – Officers of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC), Eredo Command, have arrested three students and one adult in connection with a case of theft and aiding and abetting at the Government Technical College, Odomola, Epe.

The arrest followed a distress call from the school’s principal, Dr. Wole Ajifowoke, after some students were caught with pieces of iron on the school premises. The suspects — Sunday Kingsley (17), Sansaliu Babatunde (18), and Olowu Adamo (22), all from the Motor Vehicle Mechanic Department — confessed during interrogation that they had stolen three iron chairs, dismantled them, and intended to sell the metal to local scrap collectors known as "bollar."

Further investigations revealed that the same students had previously stolen mechanical clamps from the department in March 2025, which they also planned to sell. The clamps were allegedly handed over to one Shakiru Yusuf, 48, who resides at 25 Adeyanju Street, Epe. Acting on a lead, officers visited Mr. Yusuf’s residence, where he admitted to receiving the stolen clamps and keeping them without informing the school or authorities. He claimed the students had attempted to sell the item for N10,000.

The commanding officer directed that the recovered clamps be brought in as evidence. The school principal was notified and later visited the command office for clarification.

In a related development, one of the arrested students accused a school security officer, Owolabi Emmanuel, of attempting to steal cable wire from a school building. According to the student, Mr. Emmanuel was seen early one morning with a bag, after which cable wire was reported stolen. The security man was summoned for questioning to respond to the allegation.

Dr. Ajifowoke lamented the frequent incidents of theft and burglary at the school, noting that properties worth millions of naira have been stolen in recent months. The matter has since been transferred to the Noforija Police Station for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The General Manager of the Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Agency, Prince Dr. Ifalade Oyekan FISN reaffirmed the Corps committment to collaborate with stakeholders in its determination to intensify efforts to curb theft and secure educational facilities across the state.
