AS WE VOTE IN THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS IN EPE DIVISION, LET US MAKE OUR VOTE COUNT FOR MONSURU AKINLOYE AIMASIKO, SURAH ANIMASHAUN, WALE RAJI ANOMO, ABDULLAHI SESAN OLOWA AND RASAKI BAMIDELE KASALI AS WELL AS ALL OUR COUNCILLORS.

As we go to the polls on Saturday, 12th July, 2025, it is of utmost importance that we vote for continuity, experience and sustainability. The party that fits into this bill are our candidates in the All Progressives Congress (APC). The election of 12th July will be a watershed and will serve as a barometer as we move into the 2027 elections.

Local Government elections are the most important elections in any country because they are the closest to the people, and therefore their impact on the Grassroots must be felt. In the past and even recently, there have been divergent views about the local governments, some people believe, they have not performed, but believe, in view of prevailing circumstances, they are doing well. With the local Government reforms as well as the Supreme Court Judgement, Local Governments in Epe Division cannot afford to be in opposition. Therefore, I appeal to our people to go to the polls and vote for our candidates, both Chairmanship and Councillors.

It may not have been perfect, but we have seen progress at the local level, and we hope to see more progress as we move forward in Epe Division. It is also  key that within Epe Division, having all the 5 Local Governments/LCDAs, elected on the platform of APC, it is time that we constitute a monitoring team to continue to assess their performance just as we have GAC in the State. It is also important that Chairmen begin to do a PEER REVIEW of themselves. That is a way that we can develop Epe Division.

My advice to the Chairmen and councillors by the time you are elected, especially the Chairmen, do not think that because you are not coming back as the laws permit you to do only two terms to become aloof, detached, or indifferent to your people, it is time for you to work harder, even thrice as much as it is important that you must be on the right side of history. History never forgets the righteous or otherwise.

Another advice, is that we begin to implement pro-poor programs. Initiatives designed to directly benefit impoverished individuals and reduce poverty. Policies that can improve their assets, capabilities  and participation in economic activities. It is without any doubt that our People in Epe Division are not as rich, despite our natural resources. I am aware that resources from the Local Governments cannot contain it, but as Chairmen, you are also elected to fight on behalf of our people just as the Honorables are doing. It is time to develop pro-poor policies such as:

1. Spending on education, healthcare and rural infrastructure, much more than we have been spending. Spending on scholarships especially for courses that can benefit our youths in gaining employment within industries and agro-industrial facilities within Epe Division.

2. Developing Agriculture and Tourism and providing the enabling environment. Epe Division thrives on Agriculture and Tourism. But we should be careful that our God Given Lands are not sold for Housing Estates, of which most of them will not develop in the next 20-30 years. Agriculture and Tourism can engage our youths, not housing estates.

3. Engaging our youths in Vocational training, and can collaborate with the State Government.

4. Targeted Subsidies in food especially to our aged and women,  even transportation are areas we can do more.

5. Microfinance programs are areas we can empower traders, farmers, and so on.

It is my utmost belief, that it is time, we make Epe Division the Division we will be proud of, and to our candidates:

6. Monsuru Akinloye Aimasiko;

7. Surah Animashaun;

8. Wale Raji Anomo;

9. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa;

10. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali; and

11. All the councilorship candidates.

It is time to make our votes count as we depend on you and Almighty God to make Epe Division Greater.

I congratulate you all in advance as you succeed at the polls In Sha Allah.
