PUBLIC HEARING ON THE BILL FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE LAGOS STATE UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND HEALTH SCIENCES



Few days ago, a remarkable milestone was achieved at the Lagos State House of Assembly as the Public Hearing on the Bill for the Establishment of the Lagos State University of Medicine and Health Sciences was successfully held.


The Honourable Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hon. Tolani Sule, expressed delight at the overwhelming support for this visionary initiative, which marks a bold step towards strengthening Lagos State’s healthcare and educational infrastructure.



With the ever-increasing demands on our healthcare system, the establishment of this specialized university has become imperative. In his remarks, Hon. Tolani Sule highlighted that the institution will:

Stakeholders at the hearing unanimously commended the foresight of this administration in initiating such a timely and strategic upgrade to healthcare and tertiary education.


Hon. Tolani Sule also appreciated the Lagos State House of Assembly, particularly the House Committees on Tertiary Education and Health, for their alignment with the bill and their commitment to fast-tracking the legislative process so Lagosians can begin to reap the benefits without delay.

Suspected Kidnapper Disguised as Lunatic Arrested in Epe.

Operatives of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC), Epe Command, have arrested a suspected kidnapper who had been disguising as a mentally ill person to evade detection. The suspect, identified as Mr. Godwin, a native of Ughelli Local Government Area in Delta State, had been under close surveillance for over a month following intelligence reports and concerns raised by residents. Community members reported that Mr. Godwin often made suspicious late-night phone calls and changed clothes discreetly each morning. He frequently took shelter in an abandoned security building along Lagos Road, near the T-junction. On May 5, during a routine patrol, officers were informed by residents that the suspect was temporarily absent from the area. Acting swiftly, the patrol team searched the structure and discovered 27 registered SIM cards concealed within a section of a block wall.
