COMMISSIONER SULE TOLANI EMPOWERS GRASSROOTS SPORTS WITH ₦500,000 DONATION TO OJELABI FOOTBALL CUP

In a heartwarming gesture that reinforces his commitment to youth empowerment and community development, the Honourable Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hon. Sule Tolani, has donated ₦500,000 to support the Ojelabi Badagry Division Football Cup.

The announcement came during a well-attended press conference hosted by the tournament’s Local Organising Committee (LOC), chaired by Mr. Deji Williams, where excitement filled the air over the Commissioner’s thoughtful contribution.

Hon. Tolani described the gesture as part of his passion for nurturing young talents and strengthening unity through sports. “Investing in grassroots football is investing in the future of our youth,” he said, stressing that the tournament would not only produce stars but also build character, discipline, and teamwork among participants.

Set to kick off on November 15, 2025, at the Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) Sports Ground, the Ojelabi Cup will feature several community-based teams contending for top honours, including a ₦1 million grand prize for the winning team.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of the LOC, Mr. Deji Williams commended the Commissioner’s benevolence, noting that the donation would enhance logistics, improve facilities, and make this year’s edition truly memorable. “This act of generosity inspires us to deliver a tournament that will exceed expectations while promoting sportsmanship and community pride,” he added.

Hon. Tolani further encouraged players to give their best and uphold the values of fair play, teamwork, and resilience, which he described as vital for building responsible and goal-driven citizens.

With the Commissioner’s support, the organisers are confident that the 2025 Ojelabi Football Cup will not only unite the Badagry Division but also create a vibrant platform for young footballers to shine and attract the attention of national scouts.

The countdown is on — Badagry is set for another season of football passion, pride, and purpose!
