The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reversed its suspension of former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose; and former Senate President, Pius Anyim. Other party chieftains whose suspension were reversed also are Ibrahim Shema, Dennis Ityavyar and Aslam Aliyu. The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, in statement on Thursday also said the party’s National Working Committee reversed the referral of the Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom to the National Disciplinary Committee. The PDP, Nigeria’s main opposition party, had a week ago suspended the party stalwarts over “anti-party activities”, even as the party continues to grapple with a myriad of internal issues that led to the suspension and consequent replacement of Iyorchia Ayu with Umar Damagum as the national chairman. However, the party’s spokesman, Ologunagba, in a statement on Thursday said the PDP NWC met and “extensively discussed” recent developments in the party. He said, “The NWC recognised the im...

A family rejected a coffin brought by their son-in-law for his mother-in-law's burial in Tombo Mbatie, in the Buruku Local Government Area of Benue State.   A Facebook user, Bem Raphael Aondongu, disclosed this via his page on Thursday.   According to him, the family rejected the casket because it was not beautiful, and too poor to bury a member of their family. He wrote, “Sons of a deceased mother rejected and threw away a casket brought by son-in-law from Wannue Tarkaa to Tombo Mbatie, Buruku BENUE state. “In the early hours of today, an undisclosed family rejected a casket brought by son-in-law for the burial of mother-in-law. “As the TIV tradition demands, when a mother or a father dies, the first female child who is married is saddled with the responsibility to make provision for a casket for the burial of any of the deceased parents. “And for the maintenance of tradition, the first female child, in conjunction with her husband who is a son-in-law to the deceased mother, ...

By : Sammy Adeniyi People have said virtually everything that needed to be said about Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.  Hardly does a day go bye without somebody having something to say about him.  He is arguably the most discussed politician in Nigeria. Every March 29, Asiwaju marks his birthday and more revelations about him surfaces from testimonies of those who have been opportuned to have an encounter with him one way or the other. Even his political enemies couldn't help but join the fray and castigate him for all their political and personal problems. They go as much as blame him for everything both important and ridiculous. I once asked a friend who is a member of PDP in Lagos state and is always in the habit of attending meetings in one of their Chieftain's house what is it they discuss every time even when we are not in election season and their party is not in government?  His reply was  "what do you mean?   Is Bola Tinubu not alive?  If there is ...
