Lagos State Government has again demonstrated unwavering commitment to boost improved welfare of its’ citizenry with the payment of N489,019,913.95 (Four Hundred and Eighty-Nine Million, Nineteen Thousand, Nine Hundred and Thirteen Naira, Ninety-Five Kobo) only as severance allowance for past Political Office-Holders and Functionaries who were in office after the creation of the 37 (Thirty-Seven) Local Councils in Lagos State between the year 2004-2007.  The payment was made today at the conference room of the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs, Alausa Ikeja. Oyetola’s aide dares Osun Gov. over 12,000 workers claim

  The Chief Press Secretary to the former Governor of Osun, Ismail Omipidan, has debunked the claim of Osun Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, that immediate past governor employed 12,000 workers as unfounded. He made this clarification in a statement made available to the press in Osogbo. He however challenged the Government to publish the list of the purported 12,000 workers. According to him, “What is the entire workforce of the State? Once a lie is told, you need a one and thousand lies to cover it up. In no distant future, the people of Osun will know who the real liers are.”

Adeleke dethrones three Osun monarchs

Former Governor Oyetola has appointed several monarch few weeks before handing over government to Adeleke. Appeal court reinstates all PDP candidates in Ogun

  The  Court of Appeal  has set aside a judgment of the Federal High Court, Abeokuta, Ogun State, ordering the conduct of fresh primaries by the  Peoples Democratic Party  (PDP) in the state. The Ibadan division of the appeal court gave the ruling on Monday. PREMIUM TIMES had reported that Justice O O Oguntoyin of the high court, on 27th September, directed the State Executive Committee of the PDP to conduct fresh primaries within 14 days. But while delivering judgment in an appeal filed by the PDP, Justice Folasade Ojo of the appeal court ruled that the lower court was wrong in its judgment as only the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP is vested with the power to conduct primaries. The PDP in Ogun is split into three factions with three different caniddiates claiming to be the governorship candidate of the party. However, the party’s headquarters in Abuja recongnises Ladi Adebutu as the governorship candidate of the party. Details later…

Adeleke freezes Osun bank accounts, reverses Aregbesola’s policies

  Osun   Governor Ademola Adeleke   has directed all the operational bank account of State to be frozen till further notice. He gave the directive shortly after he was sworn in as the sixth Governor of the State. He also reversed policies introduced by former Governor Rauf Aregbesola and vowed to review all appointments by his predecessor, Adegboyega Oyetola since July 17th 2022 when he lost election. Adeleke, who was sworn in at the Osogbo Township Stadium on Sunday, promised to deliver all his campaign promises. According to him: “Under my watch, I will correct past injustice, corrupt acts or policies by previous administration which are against the collective interest of our people.” He gave an Executive Order to reverse the policies of Aregbesola, which recognised Osun State as State of Osun. LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT GIVES UPDATE ON THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE 4TH MAINLAND BRIDGE

  The Lagos State Government through the Office of Public Private Partnerships is given the update on the construction of the 4th mainland bridge in Lagos. Speaking at a media brief in Lagos today, the Special Adviser to the Governor on PPP, Mr. Ope George gave a brief history of the 4th mainland bridge project.  According to him, the 4th MB is a proposed Public Private Partnership transport infrastructure development, which includes the construction and operation of a greenfield tolled road and bridge with a design speed of 120kmh, including the development of adjacent real estates. According to Mr. George, the bridge is expected to become the 2nd longest in Africa, featuring three toll plazas, 9 interchanges, a 4.5km lagoon bridge and an eco-friendly environment. It is expected to span about 37 kilometers, starting from Abraham Adesanya in Ajah, on the Eti-Osa-Lekki-Epe corridor and transverse the North West towards the lagoon shoreline of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway via Owutu/Isawo

TASCE: Abiodun renames College of Education after Awujale

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has formally renamed the Tai-Solarin College of Education (TASCE), Omu-Ajose as the Sikiru Adetona College of Education, Science and Technology (SACOETEC) with a pledge that the institution would remain a College of Education with the mandate to groom middle level teachers for the educational System of the country.  Abiodun who made this known during the formal unveiling of Sikiru Adetona College of Education, Science and Technology, said that his administration would not relent in its quest to make the institution an envy of others in the country. While noting that despite the change in the name, the governor pointed out that the institution will continue to run its degree programmes, as well as accommodate science and technology courses. ASUU threatens to skip sessions missed during strike over ‘no-work, no-pay’

  Egufe Yafugborhi ACADEMIC Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has threatened to skip backlog of academic sessions halted by their seven months strike if federal government persists on the no work no pay rule. Olugboyega Aribisogan, has described his impeachment as unconstitutional and of no effect whatsoever, insisting he remains the Speaker of the Assembly. Aribisogan described his purported impeachment by lawmakers opposed to him as undemocratic and as such, can not stand judicial scrutiny. 17 members of the House of Assembly had, Monday, convened between 6.30 am to 9.30 am under the protection and guidance of combined forces of heavily armed security men impeached Aribisogan and immediately replaced with a female lawmaker and Chief Whip of the Assembly, Hon. Olubunmi Adelugba. This was coming barely one week Aribisogan was elected by the lawmakers to replace the late Speaker, Hon Funminiyi Afuye. World Cup reporter robbed live on air in Qatar

  By Efosa Taiwo A female Argentinian reporter, Dominique Metzger has been robbed while on duty at the World Cup, with money and documents stolen from her handbag. Metzger was broadcasting from the Corniche area of Doha in the build up to the first match of the tournament when she reported the items were stolen. ‘I had my small bag on me with all the things that one needs, my wallet, the keys to our hotel room, some napkins,’ Metzger told a TN network anchor. ‘And you were dancing, right?’ the anchor asked her. ‘Yes, I was dancing with the crowd and I’m convinced that it was at that moment when someone opened the bag zipper and took my wallet,’ she replied. ‘I didn’t realise at that moment, you know you’re live on air, with music and crowds around you, and I was focused on you talking to me too. Lady stabs lover to death in Lagos

The Police Command in Lagos says it has arrested a 27-year-old woman, Miss Esther Paul, for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend, one Sadiq Dahiru, to death. The command’s spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday. Hundeyin said that the arrest was made on Sunday after Mr Kazeem Obafunso, the step father of the victim, reported the case to Ilasan Police Division. He said the report revealed that the 21 -year old victim was stabbed to death at about 1.00 a.m. The police spokesman said that a patrol team from the station was deployed to the scene at Oba Amusa Street, Agungi, Lekki area of the state. Hundeyin said that Dahiru’s body was moved to Evercare Hospital Lekki, where the victim was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. He said knife used by the arrested lady was recovered and the corpse deposited at IDH mortuary, Yaba, for preservation and autopsy.
