Lagos State Ministry of Tertiary Education Selects LASUED As One Of Its Centres For Jobs Initiative Lagos Programme
The Ministry of Tertiary Education, Lagos State has selected Lagos State University of Education as one of its centres to host a digital and employable skills training programme for penultimate year undergraduate students across selected Lagos state-owned tertiary institutions which include Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), Lagos State University (LASU) and Lagos State College of Nursing.
The programme themed "Jobs Initiative Lagos" kick started on Saturday 26th October 2024 and will be held in the various selected training centres within LASUED, Oto/Ijanikin main campus in the forthcoming three Saturdays of 2nd, 9th and 16th October 2024.
In his remarks, the Honourable Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Lagos State, Hon. Sule Tolani noted that the essence of the training is to give students what their institutions cannot give them in the classroom. Additionally, he eulogised the Lagos State Government for organizing such a rewarding programme for students, stating that such a programme is the best Government can do for them.
Furthermore, Hon. Sule Tolani praised the Executive Governor, Lagos State, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for encouraging self dependent students in the state. " We are training students that will be job providers in ICT, commerce, technology and so on who will in turn expand the economy of Lagos State and become more prosperous" he added.
However, he charged Management of Lagos State University of Education to replicate the training in their institution to further enhance its reputation as a unique and professional citadel of learning.
The Vice Chancellor, Lagos State University of Education, Prof. B.B. Lafiaji-Okuneye in her Goodwill message expressed her exhilaration on LASUED being the host of the programme. " The programme will further portray the good image of the University" she added.
Also, she enjoined the students to explore the interactive session by asking questions where necessary and take maximum advantage of the initiative in order for them to have employability skills outside their school certificate.
Moreso, the Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello ably represented by the Deputy Registrar, Mrs. Meriwoma Abiodun and Provost, Lagos State College of Nursing, Mrs. Olayiwola Anuoluwapo also delivered their goodwill messages during the event's opening ceremony held in the TETFUND 300-Seater Hall at the University's main campus.
