Breaking News: Governor Sule Dissolves Nasarawa State Executive Council




In a surprising move, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has dissolved the State Executive Council (SEC) with immediate effect. The announcement was made on Friday evening during an expanded meeting of the Executive Council held at the Government House in Lafia.


The dissolution, which affects all commissioners, special advisers, and senior special assistants, also includes the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Muhammad Ubandoma-Aliyu. This marks a significant shakeup in the state’s administrative structure.


Labaran Magaji, the outgoing Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice of Nasarawa State, confirmed the development on his Facebook page. In a heartfelt post, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the state under Governor Sule's administration.


“Following an emergency EXCO meeting held this evening in the council chamber at Government House Lafia, the Governor announced the dissolution of Nasarawa State Executive Council, thereby bringing my tenure as the Honourable Attorney-General of Nasarawa State to an end,” Magaji wrote.


He went on to thank the governor for entrusting him with the role and acknowledged the support of the Ministry of Justice staff and the state’s security agencies during his tenure. “To friends, family, and well-wishers, I sincerely thank you for the unending solidarity,” Magaji added.


The sudden decision has left political analysts and residents speculating about the rationale behind the dissolution. While no official reason has been given, such moves often precede administrative restructuring or signal shifts in governance priorities.


Governor Sule’s action underscores his commitment to reevaluating the state’s leadership dynamics, and stakeholders across Nasarawa State will be watching closely for the announcement of new appointments in the coming weeks.
