Dangote Refinery has once more reduced the ex-depot price of its Cooking Gas, decreasing it from ₦810 per kilogram to ₦760 per kilogram.

Image
In a development that may reshape Nigeria's domestic gas market, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery has once more lowered its ex-depot price for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). The price has decreased from ₦810 per kilogram last Wednesday to ₦760 per kilogram today. Dangote Refinery offers Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) at a rate of ₦760 per kilogram, positioning it as the most affordable option in the local market. In comparison, both Matrix and Ardova depots have set their price at ₦920 per kilogram. Meanwhile, A.Y.M Shafa and NIPCO provide their LPG at ₦910 per kilogram. Stockgap Depot charges the most, with a price of ₦950 per kilogram. The disparity in pricing, with Dangote’s rate at ₦760/kg compared to others priced between ₦910 and ₦950/kg, illustrates a difference of ₦150 to ₦190 per kilogram. This underscores the refinery's strategic effort to reshape the market and pressure competitors to lower their prices. Industry experts suggest that the price difference is part of a st...

Image
By: Babajide Fadoju Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, has outlined the state’s strategies for combating climate change, coastal erosion, and waste management, stressing that Lagos, as a subnational government, faces unique challenges in balancing rapid urban growth with environmental sustainability. Speaking at the panel session on “Rising Seas, Resilient Communities: Climate Adaptation Strategies in West Africa” at Harvard Business School on Saturday, Wahab noted that Lagos’ geographical location on the continental shelf, coupled with a population of over 22 million, exposes it to sea level rise, flash flooding, and ecosystem destruction. The landmass of Lagos has grown from 3,577 to 4,050 square kilometres largely through reclamation of wetlands and lagoon water bodies for real estate. While development is important, we must insist on environmental impact assessments and drainage master plans before such reclamation projects, because unc...
